critical pre-CAPSTONE-14 event that private sector companies considering
participating in the June 2014 exercise are highly encouraged to attend
The workshop is a forum for company participants to finalize
exercise preparations based on level of expected earthquake impact and
exercise engagement. Private sector representatives will have the
opportunity to present their planning to date and extent of play.
Additional discussion with state participants regarding planning
scenarios and impact will assist companies still in the decision-making
process for participation. Disaster intelligence sharing via the
virtual Business Emergency Operations Center (vBEOC) application,
Mission Ready Packaging (MRP), ArcGIS Online and fusion Web EOC will be
demonstrated with the opportunity for partners to collaborate.
Achieving situational awareness and a shared common operating picture
from the state and regional perspectives will be a key conversation
This session is also another step in the joint coordination
emphasis between public and private partners through planning,
preparedness, and response for future disasters/incidents. Please plan
to join us in Deerfield, Illinois on March 6-7, 2014!

CAPSTONE-14 Private Sector Workgroup Information and Archive
Under the direction of the CUSEC Board of Directors,
CAPSTONE-14 is a three-year, multi-state scope of planning and
activities culminating in a major, multi-state earthquake exercise in
June 2014. It is designed to strengthen partnerships between local,
state, and federal governments, while engaging public
and private sector entities in planning response and recovery from a
occurring within the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ). Included in the
initiative are both CUSEC Member, and Associate States.
Following any disaster, private sector entities are a pivotal player in emergency response and recovery. To that end, one of the primary focus areas of CAPSTONE-14 is private sector integration in the emergency planning, mitigation, and response/recovery arenas. As part of the CAPSTONE initiative, a"Private Sector Workgroup" has been formed to provide key input into areas such as resource distribution, transportation, communications, and long term recovery. Below are links to presentations and notes from several workshops based on Private Sector integration with emergency management.
